Gin, Dry vermouth, smoked vodka, chartreuse rinse. I find Martini Variations quite fun because it’s a fairly delicate drink that you can really try to pull some complex flavours out of. This one is Juniper forward with a slight bitter smoke in the background. The Chartreuse rinse adds more of a cold/fresh element that that works with the juniper really well. The Blackcurrant and Birch bitters play a pretty big role here co-starring with the Gin and adding a really calming aroma. For me this reminds me of May in the north where Spring is only just starting to poke its head out.

Ingredients

2 oz (60 mL) Gin / 1962 Gin - Route 1 Distillery

2/3oz (20 m) Dry Vermouth / Esquimalt

⅓ oz (10 m) Smoked Vodka / Rain City Distillery

2 dashes Blackcurrant and Birch Bitters / Free Pour Jenny’s

Chartreuse (green) rinse
Directions
Rinse a chilled coupe glass with Chartreuse (pour a barsoon in and swirl it around the glass, pour back into bottle or have a sneaky drink). Stir rest of ingredients over ice until well chilled and strain into the coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon peel
