Palmer's Meadery, the home of Esquimalt Vermouth. Our meads are exclusively sold online and at the Meadery in Nanaimo. In addition to our main Esquimalt business, we are also dabbling in a bit of small scale farming, growing garlic, artisanal crafts, honey and mead making. Super small-scale experimentations into the world of traditional mead making. If you want to better understand how Esquimalt is made, it all starts with mead.

This botchet style mead, starts it's life by slowly caramelizing the honey before fermentation. Once fermented and turned into delightful mead, it aged for 2 years in ex-Stillhead Distillery rye whisky barrels. The final result is loaded with caramel, vanilla and floral honey, yet very distinctly riding a blurry line between a off-dry sherry and a rye whisky. A fabulous sipper over ice. This Barrel-Aged Mead was then used as the base of Esquimalt's Barrel-Aged Rosso Vermouth for a totally different take on what a barrel-aged mead can be.
